Zimbabwe Announces 15-Member Squad for T20 World Cup

New Delhi, January 2: Zimbabwe has officially announced a 15-member team for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, following an impressive performance in the Africa Qualifier.


The tournament, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, is set to kick off on February 7, 2026.


Leading the squad is seasoned all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who aims to guide the team after they missed out on the 2024 World Cup qualification. The squad is built on a solid foundation, showcasing key players who excelled during the Africa Qualifier, according to the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) website.


Brian Bennett will provide stability at the top of the order, having shown remarkable form in the qualifiers. The bowling attack will feature the pace of Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava, complemented by Graeme Cremer’s spin expertise.


Brendan Taylor, a veteran with significant experience, returns to strengthen the batting lineup and offer leadership.


All-rounder Ryan Burl contributes to the team’s balance with his explosive batting and leg-spin bowling, while Tashinga Musekiwa, Clive Madande, Tony Munyonga, and Dion Myers round out a versatile squad.


Zimbabwe's qualification for the World Cup is a notable achievement, as they remained unbeaten in the Africa Qualifier and celebrated their victory in front of an enthusiastic home crowd in Harare.


In the T20 World Cup, Zimbabwe is placed in Group B, where they will compete against Australia, Ireland, Oman, and co-hosts Sri Lanka. The top two teams from this group will progress to the Super Eight stage.


Zimbabwe will kick off their World Cup journey against Oman at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo on February 9, followed by a highly anticipated match against Australia at the R Premadasa Stadium on February 13.
