Discussing India's chances in the upcoming FIH World Cup and Asian Games, Zafar Iqbal noted the presence of both new and seasoned players, asserting that the team has the potential to achieve a podium finish.
“We secured bronze medals in the last two Olympics, which was commendable. However, the team composition has changed with some players departing and new ones joining. I believe we can compete at a high level and have a chance to reach the semifinals or even the podium,” he stated.
India is set to compete against England, Pakistan, and Wales in Pool D of the FIH World Cup 2026, starting their journey against Wales on August 15.
