Yuvraj Singh Compares Emerging Indian Batters to 'Terminator' Franchise
Yuvraj Singh's Unique Analogy for Indian Batters
Yuvraj Singh has drawn an interesting comparison to illustrate the growth of fearless Indian cricketers, likening himself, Abhishek Sharma, and the young talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to various iterations of the famous Hollywood series 'Terminator', featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The former all-rounder, who has guided Abhishek throughout his career, sees the 15-year-old Sooryavanshi as the next step in the evolution of aggressive batting. He expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of mentoring the young player in the future.
In a conversation with JioHotstar, Yuvraj remarked, 'I often refer to myself as a Terminator. Now we have Terminator 4, Abhishek Sharma, who surpasses me by four times. Following him is Terminator 6, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has progressed even further.'
'I contributed during my era, Abhishek took it to the next level, and now Vaibhav is redefining the benchmarks. This marks the third phase of our journey. It's exciting to witness the sport's evolution,' Yuvraj shared, having watched the Wimbledon men's singles final with Abhishek and Sooryavanshi.
'Observing (Jannik) Sinner and (Carlos) Alcaraz, I notice the transformation in tennis. I see a similar progression in Abhishek and Vaibhav. I've invested considerable time training Abhishek, and I would be eager to work with Vaibhav too. He has a promising future ahead and is a serious contender in the making,' Yuvraj added.
Vaibhav, for his part, expressed that his time with Yuvraj provided him with invaluable lessons that went beyond mere technique.
'Yuvi Paaji is also my idol. Meeting him for the first time was a memorable experience. I had the opportunity to learn from him, and he shared numerous insights about the game,' Sooryavanshi stated.
'He discussed the mental aspects of cricket, how to manage pressure, and the significance of self-belief. It's incredible to learn so much from someone of his caliber. I am confident it will greatly benefit my career moving forward,' he continued.
Abhishek, who has thrived under Yuvraj's guidance, mentioned that he could empathize with the emotions of the young prodigy.
'I understand what Vaibhav is experiencing right now because Yuvi Paaji is my idol too. I recall feeling the same way when I first met him,' Abhishek reflected.
'Watching my first Wimbledon final alongside Yuvi Paaji and Vaibhav made it a truly special day for me,' he concluded.
