Indian Duo Advances in Men's Doubles

Paris [France], May 27 (News Media): Yuki Bhambri and N Sriram Balaji from India have successfully moved on to the second round of the men's doubles competition at the French Open.

In their match, Bhambri, who teamed up with New Zealand's Michael Venus, triumphed over the Argentine duo of Francisco Cerundolo and Mariano Kestelboim with a score of 7-5, 6-2, securing their spot in the next stage at Roland-Garros. Meanwhile, Balaji, alongside Brazil's Marcelo Demoliner, overcame Germany's Constantin Frantzen and the Netherlands' Robin Haase, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, as reported by Olympics.com.

The encounter between Bhambri and Venus against Cerundolo and Kestelboim saw the first set remain on serve until the pivotal 11th game, where Bhambri and Venus managed to break their opponents. They maintained their serve in the subsequent game to clinch the first set.

Building on their momentum, the pair broke their opponents early in the second set and comfortably finished the match. Bhambri, who is currently India's highest-ranked men's doubles player, is also set to compete in the mixed doubles category at the French Open. He will partner with Alexandra Panova to take on David Pel and Ukraine's Lyudmyla Kichenok in their opening match on Thursday.

In the other match, Balaji and Demoliner started strong, breaking Frantzen and Haase early in the third game to seize control of the first set. They achieved a second break in the ninth game, converting their third set point to take the lead.

Frantzen and Haase mounted a comeback in the second set, breaking Balaji and Demoliner in the seventh game and holding their service games to level the match, pushing it to a deciding set.

However, they faltered early in the final set, losing their serve in the second game, which allowed Balaji and Demoliner to capitalize and secure their victory, advancing to the second round.
