Samarth Atri's Journey to the Asian Championship

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 21: Samarth Atri, a talented young skater from Bhoranj tehsil in Hamirpur district, met with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday evening to seek his blessings before the upcoming Asian Short Track Ice Skating Trophy 2026.

Samarth has earned the opportunity to represent India at this prestigious international event, which is set to take place in Dehradun from August 17 to 20, 2026.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister congratulated Samarth on his remarkable achievement and wished him success at the Asian competition. He emphasized the state government's dedication to developing top-notch sports facilities in Himachal Pradesh, aimed at helping talented athletes refine their skills and excel in both national and international arenas.

He praised Samarth Atri for reaching the international level through his hard work, talent, and commitment, noting that his success has brought honor to Himachal Pradesh.

The Chief Minister expressed his belief that Samarth would perform exceptionally well at the Asian Short Track Ice Skating Trophy, bringing accolades to both India and the state.

Currently a Class X student at the renowned Auckland House School in Shimla, Samarth has been training diligently at the Shimla Ice Skating Rink for the past six to seven years. His recent participation in the 21st National Short Track Ice Skating Championship showcased his skills, leading to his selection for the National Training Camp.

Following his outstanding performance at the camp, he has now been chosen to represent India at the Asian Short Track Ice Skating Trophy 2026.
