Jaiswal's Remarkable Achievement in ODI Cricket

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], June 20: Yashasvi Jaiswal, India's emerging cricket star, has made headlines by becoming the quickest Indian to achieve two centuries in One Day Internationals (ODIs), accomplishing this in just six innings.

This remarkable feat eclipses the previous record set by Shikhar Dhawan, who reached the milestone in seven innings, followed by Kedar Jadhav (nine), Virat Kohli (17), and Shubman Gill (18).

Jaiswal's second century came during the third ODI against Afghanistan, where India triumphed by nine wickets in Chennai on Saturday.

He scored 110 not out off 86 balls, including 14 fours and three sixes, following his century against South Africa in December 2025.

Alongside Jaiswal's stellar performance, Prasidh Krishna's five-wicket haul and Rohit Sharma's explosive half-century were pivotal in India's series victory over Afghanistan.

Afghanistan, batting first, managed 218 runs, thanks to a century from Hashmatullah Shahidi (102 off 131 balls) and a fifty from Azmatullah Omarzai (50 off 56 balls). However, Jaiswal and Sharma's 170-run partnership for the opening wicket was crucial in chasing down the target.

After the match, Jaiswal expressed his joy over his innings, highlighting his focus on maintaining a strong start during the powerplay. He attributed his success to a disciplined approach and the unwavering support from the team management.

"I really enjoyed my innings. After a good start, I aimed to continue and finish strong. I focus on what I can control and work hard. The support from the staff has been incredible, and their communication has helped me immensely," Jaiswal stated.

He emphasized the importance of capitalizing on good starts, saying, "When it's your day, you have to make it count. I've learned from past experiences, and today I was determined to stay focused and rotate the strike effectively. If I get in, I aim to make it count," he concluded.
