Yashasvi Jaiswal's Change of Plans

New Delhi [India] - Rising cricket star Yashasvi Jaiswal has made a surprising request to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), asking to remain with the Mumbai team instead of transferring to Goa for the 2025-26 domestic season, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

The MCA is set to discuss Jaiswal's situation in their upcoming apex council meeting, scheduled in about two weeks. The 23-year-old left-handed batsman submitted a formal letter to the MCA, explaining that he initially intended to move to Goa due to his family's relocation, but those plans have since changed.

Just over a month ago, Jaiswal had sought a no-objection certificate from the Mumbai Cricket Board to facilitate his move to Goa, which the MCA granted.

According to MCA secretary Abhay Hadap, "He has communicated with us, but we are not rushing to make a decision as there is still time before the next domestic season. He mentioned that he has not yet submitted the NOC to either the BCCI or the Goa Cricket Association."

Jaiswal has been a part of the Mumbai cricket scene since his Under-19 days, making a significant impact in 2019. He has played 10 first-class matches, scoring 863 runs at an impressive average of 53.93, which includes four centuries and two fifties.

His last match was on January 23 this year during a Ranji Trophy game against Jammu and Kashmir, where he struggled, scoring 4 and 26 runs as Mumbai faced a five-wicket loss.

Although he was set to participate in the semi-final against Vidarbha, he had to withdraw due to a right ankle injury sustained during training. Currently, Jaiswal is competing for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which has been temporarily suspended due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan.

He stands as the leading run-scorer for the Royals, amassing 473 runs in 12 matches at an average of 43.00, with a strike rate of 154.57, including five half-centuries. Following the IPL, Jaiswal's next challenge will be the Indian tour of England, featuring five Test matches, with the first scheduled for June 20 at Headingley.
