West Indies Secures Victory Against Pakistan

Tarouba [Trinidad and Tobago], August 11: A stellar all-round display by Roston Chase propelled the West Indies to a five-wicket victory over Pakistan in the second ODI held on Monday.

This win allowed the Windies to equalize the three-match series at 1-1, despite the match being affected by rain.

Choosing to bowl first in a 37-over match, Pakistan struggled early, finding themselves at 88/4 within 21.1 overs.

Key contributions from Hussain Talat, who scored 31 off 32 balls with four boundaries, and Hasan Nawaz, who remained unbeaten on 36 off 30 balls with three sixes, helped Pakistan reach 171/7 in their allotted overs.

Jayden Seales emerged as the leading wicket-taker for the West Indies, claiming 3 wickets for 23 runs in seven overs, while Jediah Blades, Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Chase each took one wicket.

With rain interrupting play again, the revised target for the West Indies was set at 184 runs in 35 overs.

However, the Windies faced early setbacks, slipping to 48/3 as Hasan Ali (2/35) and Abrar Ahmed (1/23) made early inroads.

A crucial 54-run partnership between captain Shai Hope, who scored 32 off 35 balls, and Sherfane Rutherford, who hit 45 off 33 balls, steadied the innings.

After both were dismissed by Mohammed Nawaz (2/17), the West Indies found themselves in a precarious position at 107/5 in 21.2 overs.

Roston Chase, with an unbeaten 49 off 47 balls, and Justin Greaves, who contributed 26 off 31 balls, forged a vital 77-run partnership, leading the team to a five-wicket victory with 10 balls to spare.

Chase's all-round performance earned him the 'Player of the Match' accolade.
