West Indies' Remarkable Victory in Ranchi

In a thrilling encounter at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on October 10, West Indies captain Shai Hope commended Roston Chase for his impressive bowling performance during the second T20I against India, where a staggering total of over 500 runs were scored collectively.

Chase delivered an economical spell, taking 3 wickets for just 24 runs in four overs, as India set a formidable target of 249 runs for 5 wickets. His scalps included opener Abhishek Sharma, who managed 20 runs off 12 balls, Ishan Kishan with 43 runs off 22 balls, and Shivam Dube, who scored 7 runs off 10 deliveries.

Hope's unbeaten century of 102 runs, along with significant contributions from Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd, enabled the West Indies to successfully chase down the target in just 18.3 overs, finishing at 252 for 4, thus leveling the five-match series at 1-1.

Post-match, Hope acknowledged the challenges of bowling in such conditions and praised Chase for maintaining a low scoring rate during India's innings. He remarked, "To go out at six runs an over on a surface like this is remarkable. He kept us in the game, making it easier for us to chase down the score."

India's innings was bolstered by Sanju Samson's explosive 82 runs off 41 balls, alongside Ishan Kishan's 43, Shreyas Iyer's 40, and Tilak Varma's unbeaten 44. However, West Indies' chase was not without its hurdles, as they found themselves in trouble at 5 for 2 after Indian pacer Mayank Yadav took two wickets in the first over.

Hope steadied the innings with a crucial 53-run partnership with Rovman Powell, followed by a significant 120-run partnership with Rutherford and a 74-run stand with Shepherd, leading to a historic victory.

Hope, who was awarded Player of the Match for his century, reflected on the early wickets, stating, "We knew it would be a tough chase after being at 5 for 2, but the partnership with Rovman helped us rebuild, and Sherfane's acceleration was key."
