Washington Sundar's Injury Update

Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar will miss the ODI series against New Zealand after sustaining a rib injury during the opening match in Vadodara.

The 26-year-old bowler delivered five overs, conceding 27 runs, but had to leave the field partway through New Zealand's innings and did not return. Despite his discomfort, he batted at No. 8, contributing to India's four-wicket victory.

A BCCI official confirmed, "Washington has been ruled out due to discomfort in his left lower rib area."

Sundar is the third player from the Indian squad to face injury issues; wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was sidelined last week due to a side strain, while Tilak Varma is out for the first three T20Is against New Zealand following groin surgery.

After the match, India’s ODI captain Shubman Gill provided an update on Sundar's condition, stating, "Washington Sundar has a side strain and will undergo a scan after the match."
