Wanindu Hasaranga Exits IPL 2026 Due to Injury: Lucknow Super Giants Seek Replacement
Wanindu Hasaranga Ruled Out of IPL 2026
Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been officially ruled out of the current Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) season due to a hamstring injury sustained during the T20 World Cup held in February. This injury has prevented him from participating further in the tournament. Hasaranga was acquired for ₹2 crore, and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are actively searching for a suitable replacement. An announcement regarding this is expected within the next 24 to 48 hours. Tom Moody, LSG's Global Director of Cricket, made this statement during the KKR vs LSG match, indicating that preparations are underway for Hasaranga's absence. “We are sort of preparing for him not going to be available for us. So, we are in the process of finalising a replacement that will be announced in the next 24-48 hours,” Moody stated during the broadcast.
Update on Mohsin Khan's Condition
Moody Gives Update On Mohsin Khan
Mohsin Khan missed the entire IPL 2025 season due to injury but was declared fit ahead of this year's tournament. He made a strong comeback in Lucknow's opening match, taking one wicket for just 19 runs in four overs. However, he has been sidelined again due to another injury. Tom Moody provided an update, mentioning that the team is cautious about pushing the pacer too hard at this time due to some stiffness he experienced after the first game. "He had a bit of stiffness after the first game. We didn’t want to push him, so hopefully he should be back sooner rather than later," Moody shared. The team is reportedly considering four candidates to fill Hasaranga's spot, including all-rounders Liam Dawson, Rehan Ahmed, Mohammad Nabi, and spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman as potential options for the franchise based in Lucknow.
