Sehwag's Slip-Up Sparks Outrage

Renowned Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has come under fire on social media after mistakenly referring to star pacer Jasprit Bumrah as 'Chumrah'. This incident occurred prior to the IPL 2026 match between the Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings while Sehwag was discussing the MI bowling lineup on Cricbuzz. Jasprit Bumrah Retains Top Spot In ICC Rankings

In other news, Bumrah continues to hold the top position among Test bowlers in the latest ICC rankings released on Wednesday. Former England captain Joe Root leads the batting charts with 880 points, while Indian players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are ranked eighth and ninth, respectively. Gill has climbed to 730 points, while Jaiswal stands at 750 points. Harry Brook, Steve Smith, and Travis Head follow in the rankings.

It's worth noting that India has yet to play any World Test Championship matches in 2026, with their last home game against South Africa in November. Bumrah leads the bowlers' rankings with 879 points, while Mohammed Siraj is the next best Indian at 12th. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja are ranked 15th and 14th, respectively. Australia's Mitchell Starc and Test captain Pat Cummins have moved up to second and fourth place, while New Zealand's Matt Henry is now in third.

However, Bumrah's performance in IPL 2026 has been disappointing, with only three wickets taken in 11 matches, averaging 116.33 and an economy rate exceeding 8.5. He failed to secure a wicket in his first five games, managed to take one wicket each in his next two matches against GT and CSK, but then struggled again, conceding 54 runs against SRH and 45 runs in the LSG match. Bumrah will be looking to rebound and deliver a strong performance in the remaining three matches, even though MI has already been eliminated from playoff contention.
