Virat Kohli's Ankle Injury Update Ahead of RCB vs LSG Clash
Kohli's Ankle Concern
During the match against the Mumbai Indians on April 12, Virat Kohli sustained an ankle injury, which prevented him from participating in the field during MI's batting innings. Reports indicated that the injury occurred shortly after MI began their chase. Although Kohli appeared to be struggling with the injury, he managed to practice batting with a strapped leg in the nets before the upcoming match against the Lucknow Super Giants. Fortunately, he was able to bat for an extended period without showing any signs of pain, suggesting he may be ready for the LSG match. If he is not fully fit, the team management might consider using him as an Impact Player.
Kohli has been in excellent form, accumulating 179 runs across four innings, making him the second-highest run-scorer for RCB in IPL 2026, which includes two half-centuries. Despite his frustration after scoring a half-century against MI, where he made 50 runs off 38 balls, he expressed disappointment by throwing his bat and gloves. RCB achieved a formidable total of 240/4, thanks to contributions from Rajat Patidar, Kohli, and Phil Salt, while Tim David added a finishing touch with an unbeaten 34 runs off 16 balls. MI, in response, managed to score 222 runs, resulting in an 18-run defeat.
RCB Aiming for the Top Position
RCB eye top spot
A victory against the Lucknow Super Giants would propel Royal Challengers Bengaluru to the top of the points table. Currently, RCB holds the third position with three wins out of four matches, totaling six points and a net run rate of +1.148. The Rajasthan Royals lead the table with eight points from four wins, while the Sunrisers Hyderabad recently halted their winning streak. The Punjab Kings remain unbeaten and occupy the second spot. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant's LSG has secured two wins from four matches, placing them seventh. A win against RCB could elevate them to fourth place, following their recent loss to the Gujarat Titans on April 12.
