Virat Kohli to Miss Vijay Hazare Trophy Match Against Railways
Kohli's Absence in Upcoming Match
Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket sensation, will not participate in the upcoming match for Delhi against Railways in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, as confirmed by head coach Sarandeep Singh.
After scoring 131 and 77 in his recent return to this prestigious domestic one-day tournament, Kohli is set to rejoin the national squad for the ODI series against New Zealand, which kicks off on January 11.
In his absence, both pacer Harshit Rana and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant are confirmed to be part of the lineup for the match in Alur on Tuesday, according to Sarandeep.
“Virat will not be available. Pant and Harshit will take the field tomorrow,” stated the head coach, who is also a former spinner for India.
Earlier, DDCA president Rohan Jaitely had mentioned that Kohli was expected to play in three matches.
Currently, Delhi tops Group D with four victories out of five matches, and a win against Railways would secure their advancement in the tournament.
The first ODI between India and New Zealand is scheduled to take place in Vadodara on January 11, followed by matches in Rajkot and Indore on January 14 and 18, respectively.
Kohli, who is now focusing on one format of the game, has been in exceptional form recently, having scored two centuries and an unbeaten 65 during the three-match home series against South Africa last month.
