Kohli's Stellar Performance in Vadodara

Vadodara (Gujarat) [India], January 12: Virat Kohli showcased his exceptional talent once more, scoring an impressive 93 runs in the first ODI against New Zealand on Sunday.


This remarkable innings has brought Kohli's total to 1,091 runs in successful chases exceeding 300 runs in ODIs, boasting an average of 121.22 and a strike rate of 125.25, which includes seven centuries and two fifties.


Continuing his outstanding form from Australia, Kohli achieved his fifth consecutive score of over 50, a milestone he has now reached five times in ODI history, making him the only player to do so.


His recent performances include a fifty against Australia in the third ODI last October, along with two centuries and a fifty against South Africa in December.


India triumphed over New Zealand by four wickets in Vadodara, although they faced a slight setback after Kohli's dismissal. However, KL Rahul's composed innings of 29 not out off 21 balls secured the win for India in the penultimate over.


The Indian team successfully chased down a target of 301 runs, with Rahul and Washington Sundar forming a crucial partnership to clinch the victory.


With this win, India has now successfully chased a target of 300 or more runs in ODIs 20 times, leading the statistics, followed by England with 15 and Australia with 14.


Additionally, during this match, Kohli became the fastest player to accumulate 28,000 runs across all formats in international cricket, ranking as the second-highest run-scorer behind Sachin Tendulkar.
