Virat Kohli Meets Rugby Star Dan Carter Ahead of IPL 2026
Kohli and Carter: A Meeting of Sports Legends
In Bengaluru, Karnataka, Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli recently had the opportunity to meet renowned New Zealand rugby player Dan Carter as they gear up for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
Carter, a retired rugby icon, is celebrated for his time with the Crusaders in Super Rugby and his contributions to the All Blacks on the international stage.
Kohli shared a moment from their meeting on his Instagram, reposting a story featuring a photo of the two athletes standing together.
As the IPL 2026 season approaches, Kohli is set to play for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The defending champions will kick off their title defense on March 28 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In the previous IPL season, Kohli was in stellar form, amassing 657 runs in 15 matches with an impressive average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71, making him the top scorer for his team and the third overall in the tournament.
Currently, Kohli has accumulated 8,661 runs in 267 IPL matches, including eight centuries and 63 fifties. He is on the verge of becoming the first player to surpass the 9,000-run milestone in IPL history.
With a total of 9,085 runs in 282 matches for RCB, including performances in the now-defunct Champions League T20, Kohli is just one remarkable season away from being the first player to reach 10,000 runs for a single IPL franchise across all T20 competitions.
In T20 internationals, Kohli has scored 13,543 runs, featuring nine centuries and 105 fifties. He aims to join the elite 14,000-run club in T20 cricket alongside legends like Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Alex Hales, and David Warner.
