Kohli's Lighthearted Take on Test Cricket
During a recent event, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli humorously remarked that he would prefer to downplay his newly launched shoe rather than return to Test cricket to enhance its sales. This comment came when he was asked about the possibility of wearing the traditional whites again.
Kohli, who has transitioned to being a one-format player after retiring from Test cricket last year with an impressive tally of 9,230 runs, has set the price of his shoe to match his Test runs.
At the global premiere of One8, he was playfully questioned if he would consider returning to Test cricket to boost the profits of his red shoes, which reflect his dedication to the longest format of the game.
In response, Kohli quipped, "I would rather undersell. I am done with it (Test cricket)," eliciting laughter from the audience.
During the interaction, Kohli also shared insights into his relentless spirit on the field. He recalled his memorable performance against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup held in Australia.
"I thrive in situations where others think it's over, and somehow, I manage to turn the game around," he explained.
"From a young age, I’ve always believed that a game is never lost until the final whistle. Even if the odds are against you, there’s always a chance to win. One moment that stands out for me is that match against Pakistan in Melbourne, where I was later told we had only a 3% chance of winning. But I never saw it that way; even a 1% chance is enough to keep fighting. You’re never truly out of the game until it’s over," Kohli added.
Reflecting on his evolution as a player, Kohli noted that his younger self might be surprised by his current calm demeanor. He stated, "He probably wouldn’t have imagined being this composed and would have expected me to remain boisterous and rowdy."
"Looking back, I take pride in who I am and what I stand for. I walk into any room with confidence, following my vision and heart, and I’m proud of that," he concluded.
On the cricket field, Kohli has consistently performed well and recently led the Royal Challengers Bangalore to consecutive IPL titles.
