Virat Kohli Celebrates Every Run in IPL Match Against KKR
Kohli's Memorable Moment at the IPL
Virat Kohli, renowned for his impressive batting records in international cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL), experienced a significant moment during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Shaheed Veer Singh Stadium in Raipur on May 13. Chasing a daunting target of 193 runs, Kohli opened the batting for RCB, feeling the weight of pressure after two consecutive ducks in previous matches against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI). He had to wait until the final ball of the first over to face his first delivery from Saurabh Dubey, but he managed to score on his very first ball, visibly relieved to avoid another duck. His exuberant celebration of this single run quickly went viral on social media, with the crowd sharing in the light-hearted moment.

This celebration echoed his reaction from the third ODI against Australia in Sydney last year, where he also faced a similar situation after two ducks. Prior to his duck against LSG, Kohli had not recorded a duck in the IPL for three years, and it was the first time in over nine years that he failed to score in a run chase. This match marked the first instance of him achieving back-to-back ducks while chasing in his IPL career.
Virat Kohli's Record-Breaking Night
During this innings, Kohli reached a remarkable milestone of 400 runs in the 2026 IPL season, marking the 12th season in which he has surpassed this figure. No other player has achieved this feat more than nine times. Additionally, Kohli made history by becoming the most capped player in the league's history, appearing for RCB for the 279th time.
