On December 31, the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025-26 showcased thrilling cricketing feats, including Sarfaraz Khan's explosive 157 runs off just 75 balls for Mumbai and Ruturaj Gaikwad's solid 124 for Maharashtra. Mohammed Shami's two wickets and four-wicket hauls from Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar for Bengal, along with Anshul Kamboj's four wickets for Haryana, were also notable highlights.
In the match between Haryana and Services, Haryana opted to field first after winning the toss. Anshul Kamboj emerged as the standout performer, taking three early wickets and finishing with figures of 4 for 43, which left Services struggling at 271/8 despite Irfan Ali's 103.
Maharashtra's captain Ruturaj Gaikwad led his team with a remarkable 124 runs against Uttarakhand, contributing significantly to their total of 331/7. His innings was supported by Satyajeet Bachhav and Ramakrishna Ghosh, who added 56 and 47 runs, respectively.
Mumbai's batting was highlighted by a staggering total of 444/8 against Goa, with Sarfaraz Khan's remarkable century coming off just 56 balls, including nine fours and 14 sixes. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Musheer Khan also made valuable contributions.
Bengal's bowling attack dominated Jammu & Kashmir, bowling them out for a mere 63 runs, with Mohammed Shami taking two wickets and Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar each claiming four wickets. Bengal chased down the target in just 9.3 overs.
Baroda's batting was equally impressive, scoring 417/4 against Hyderabad, featuring centuries from Nitya Pandya, Amit Pasi, and an unbeaten 109 from captain Krunal Pandya.
Assam managed to post 308 all out against Uttar Pradesh, with Sumit Ghadigaonkar scoring 101. However, Uttar Pradesh's bowlers, particularly Vipraj Nigam, who took four wickets, kept the innings in check.
In the Karnataka vs Puducherry match, Karnataka set a formidable total of 363/4, thanks to centuries from Mayank Agarwal and Devdutt Padikkal, while Venkatesh Iyer's four wickets helped Madhya Pradesh restrict Tripura to 286/7.
