Benoni, South Africa - On January 5, India’s U19 captain Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered an impressive performance, scoring 68 runs off just 24 balls, which propelled his team to chase down a revised target of 174 runs in 23.3 overs. This victory, achieved by eight wickets through the DLS method, allowed India to secure the series 2-0 with one match remaining.


South Africa U19, having chosen to bat first, was dismissed for 245 runs in 49.3 overs. Due to rain interruptions, India was set a revised target of 174 runs from 27 overs.


India's opening batsmen, Aaron George and Suryavanshi, started aggressively, putting pressure on the South African bowlers. They reached 50 runs in just 4.1 overs, with Suryavanshi reaching his half-century in a mere 19 balls.


George was the first to be dismissed, scoring 20 runs off 19 balls, leaving India at 67/1 in 6.1 overs. Suryavanshi continued his aggressive batting, hitting 10 sixes and one four before being caught by Michael Kruiskamp in the 8.1 over, with India comfortably positioned at 103/2 after 10 overs.


Following Suryavanshi's dismissal, Vedant Trivedi and Abhigyan Kundu ensured a smooth finish, with Trivedi remaining not out at 31 and Kundu finishing on 48 not out.
