Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shines with Record-Breaking 190 in Vijay Hazare Trophy
Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Stellar Performance
In a stunning display of batting prowess, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored an impressive 190 runs off just 84 balls for Bihar during their Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate Group match against Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.
The young opener achieved his century in a mere 36 deliveries, hitting an astonishing 15 sixes and 16 fours, showcasing his explosive hitting ability on the first day of the 50-over domestic tournament. This remarkable feat marks the second-fastest century by an Indian in List A cricket, trailing only behind Anmolpreet Singh of Punjab, who reached his hundred in 35 balls against the same team in 2024.
Suryavanshi's remarkable innings came just three days after a disappointing performance in the U19 Asia Cup final against Pakistan in the UAE, highlighting his resilience and capacity to rebound strongly.
The record for the fastest List A century is currently held by Jake Fraser-McGurk from Australia, who achieved the milestone in just 29 balls for South Australia against Tasmania during the 2023-24 season. This is followed by the legendary AB de Villiers of South Africa, who scored a 31-ball century against the West Indies in Johannesburg.
With this remarkable performance, Suryavanshi has also set the record as the youngest player to score a century in List A cricket.
Bihar chose to bat first after winning the toss.
