Worcester [UK], July 5: The president of the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), Rakesh Tiwari, has showered accolades on the young talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi after the 14-year-old cricketer scored a remarkable century in just 52 balls during the fourth Under-19 ODI against England on Saturday.
Vaibhav's extraordinary performance has earned him a place in the record books, as he now holds the title for the fastest century in Youth ODIs.
Rakesh Tiwari expressed immense pride in Vaibhav's accomplishment, stating that he has brought honor not only to Bihar but to the entire nation. He emphasized that this record-breaking century is just the beginning of what promises to be a stellar career.
“This is a proud moment for Bihar. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has not only elevated the status of our state but has also made India proud. Achieving such a feat at such a young age showcases his dedication, hard work, and mental fortitude. “This is merely the start; Vaibhav's century is the first of many records he will break. Given his talent and determination, we are confident he will continue to make history in cricket,” he added.
In a commanding display, the left-handed batter scored 143 runs off just 78 balls, hitting 13 fours and 10 sixes. He surpassed the previous record held by Pakistan's Kamran Ghulam, who had achieved a century in 53 balls, by reaching his hundred in only 52 balls with 10 fours and 7 sixes.
Vaibhav reached his century in the 19th over, showcasing remarkable confidence and skill at the crease. His aggressive play kept the bowlers under pressure, highlighting his mental resilience and understanding of the game.
Rakesh reiterated the BCA's dedication to fostering and supporting emerging talents like Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
