Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Shines in IPL, Leading Rajasthan Royals to Victory
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Explosive Performance
Young talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi delivered an outstanding performance against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), leading the Rajasthan Royals (RR) to a six-wicket victory in Guwahati. His explosive innings spanned just 26 balls, effectively crushing RCB's chances of winning. Vaibhav unleashed a barrage of eight fours and seven sixes, scoring 78 runs and propelling RR towards a successful chase of 202 runs. This young player has proven his mettle, having previously excelled in U19 cricket and for India A, but questions remained about his performance against top-tier IPL competition. Sooryavanshi has silenced critics with his remarkable form, accumulating 200 runs at an impressive strike rate of 266.67 across four matches this season.
Before targeting renowned bowlers like Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Vaibhav showcased his skills against the world-class Jasprit Bumrah, hitting two sixes off his first three deliveries. In a post-match interview, he shared his approach to facing elite bowlers, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the ball rather than the bowler. “While I am aware of who is bowling, my goal is to play the ball as it comes and stick to my game,” Sooryavanshi explained. He added, “I aim to replicate my practice routine during matches, avoiding unnecessary risks and trusting my instincts.”
Remarkable Maturity at a Young Age
At just 15 years old, Vaibhav's maturity is impressive. Although he narrowly missed a century, he expressed more disappointment over a careless shot that could have cost his team. “If I remain at the crease, I can contribute an additional 10-20 runs, which could help us finish the chase earlier or set a higher target. I regret getting out due to a loose shot because it negatively impacts the team,” he reflected. Vaibhav also mentioned that his guardian, team manager Romi Bhinder, encourages him to concentrate on his game. “Romi sir guides me here, while my father and coaches support me at home. They remind me that this journey is just beginning, and I must focus on my process and performance without distractions,” Sooryavanshi concluded.
