Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Shines in IPL 2026, Sparks Debut Discussions
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Stellar Performance
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made a remarkable impact in IPL 2026. After excelling in U19 and A cricket, he has proven his readiness for the highest level of the game during the current IPL season, dominating some of the finest bowlers. Currently, he tops the run charts for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), amassing 246 runs in just six matches with an impressive strike rate of 236. His explosive performances have significantly contributed to RR's impressive record of four victories and two losses.
Allan Border, the legendary Australian cricketer, expressed his admiration for Vaibhav's talent, stating he has never witnessed a young player hit the ball with such force. “Vaibhav is an exceptional player, a remarkable talent. At just 14 or 15, I’ve never seen anyone strike the ball with such power,” Border remarked during a conversation with a media outlet. While he refrained from making bold predictions about Vaibhav's future, he noted similarities to the great Brian Lara. “I can’t say if he will become a successful Test cricketer, but I see glimpses of Brian Lara in his game. He has a long journey ahead, but he can certainly hit the ball to all corners of the field,” Border assessed. He also advised Sooryavanshi to focus on strengthening his defensive technique.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's India Debut Calls Leaves Cricket World Divided
As Vaibhav continues to impress, discussions about his potential debut have intensified. Reports suggest he may debut in the upcoming T20I series against Ireland. Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth emphasized that the BCCI should expedite Sooryavanshi's entry into the national team. “This player, Sooryavanshi, is phenomenal. Just imagine the shots he plays. He is simply outstanding. Ajit, I’m telling you, he needs to be fast-tracked. He should be part of the next series. I’ve been advocating for this for a year. He should have been included in the T20 World Cup squad. Even if he doesn’t play immediately, he should be in the 15-man squad to acclimatize to the international environment,” Srikkanth stated in an interview with a media channel.
