Rajasthan Royals' Journey in IPL 2026

In a dramatic turn of events, the Rajasthan Royals (RR), featuring Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, faced elimination from IPL 2026 after a loss to the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the second Qualifier. Sooryavanshi delivered an impressive performance, scoring 96 runs off just 47 balls, which left him emotional in the dugout after the match. The 15-year-old emerged as RR's standout player throughout the season, currently holding the Orange Cap. His remarkable innings helped RR post a formidable total of 214/6 in the Qualifier. Earlier, he had also scored a staggering 97 runs off 29 balls in the first Qualifier against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). By the end of IPL 2026, Sooryavanshi accumulated 776 runs across 16 innings, leading the charts ahead of GT's Shubman Gill (722) and Sai Sudharsan (710). However, with GT advancing to the finals, Sooryavanshi's position as the Orange Cap holder remains uncertain.

This IPL season has been a remarkable journey for Sooryavanshi, who has now secured a place in the India A team. He is set to travel to Sri Lanka for a tri-series featuring the hosts and Afghanistan A. There is a strong possibility that he could be included in the national squad for upcoming T20I series against Ireland, England, and Zimbabwe, with selections expected for the Ireland and Zimbabwe matches.
