In his inaugural encounter against Jasprit Bumrah, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi showcased remarkable composure, contributing significantly to his Indian Premier League (IPL) journey. The 15-year-old bounced back from a previous duck against the Mumbai Indians (MI) by scoring an impressive 39 runs off just 14 balls during an 11-over match. He formed a formidable opening partnership of 80 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal in a mere 30 balls. Sooryavanshi's innings featured five sixes and one four, including two sixes off Bumrah's first three deliveries. He was eventually caught by Tilak Varma on the boundary off Shardul Thakur's bowling, concluding a powerful innings that helped the team reach a total of 150 runs.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Makes History
Throughout his innings, Sooryavanshi made history by surpassing a record previously held by Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan for eight years. With a total of 35 sixes in his IPL career, he now holds the record for the most sixes hit by a teenager in the league's history. He is the first player to achieve over 30 sixes before reaching the age of 20 in this prestigious tournament. The young batter matched the previous record in his last game against the Gujarat Titans.
