Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Set to Debut for India-A in Tri-Series Against Sri Lanka-A
India-A's Opening Match Details
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is poised to make his List A debut for India-A during the inaugural match of the tri-series against Sri Lanka-A, scheduled for Tuesday (June 9) at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. The 15-year-old will be playing under the captaincy of Tilak Varma, with Afghanistan-A also participating in the series.
Prabsimran Singh is expected to take on the role of the primary wicket-keeper batter, likely opening the innings alongside Vaibhav. This could mean that Priyansh Arya, who previously scored a century in his only List A match against Australia A in Kanpur last year, may not secure a starting position.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, who received a late call-up due to Riyan Parag's injury, is anticipated to bat at number three, serving as the team's vice-captain. Gaikwad was named Player of the Series in the last 50-over assignment for India A against South Africa A and boasts an impressive List A average of 58.83.
In the middle order, skipper Tilak Varma will be joined by Ayush Badoni and Nishant Sindhu, batting at positions 4, 5, and 6. The all-rounder spots are likely to be filled by Ankul Roy, Arshad Khan, and Vipraj Nigam, who will bat at numbers 6, 7, and 8, providing the team with a mix of left-arm pace and spin options.
Anshul Kamboj and Yash Thakur are set to lead the pace attack for the team.
