Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Set for India 'A' Debut in Sri Lanka Tri-Series

The conclusion of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) has initiated anticipation for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's first call-up to the Indian national team, as fans eagerly await the selectors' decision regarding his inclusion in the T20I squads for the upcoming series against Ireland and England. However, cricket enthusiasts will only have to wait nine days to see him play again.
The 15-year-old talent is set to participate in 50-over matches (List A cricket) when the India 'A' team embarks on a tour to Sri Lanka for a tri-series. This tournament will feature the Indian team competing against Sri Lanka 'A' and Afghanistan 'A'. The series kicks off on June 9th, with the final scheduled for June 21st, all taking place at the Dambulla International Stadium.

Tilak Varma will captain the Indian side, with Ruturaj Gaikwad serving as vice-captain. Initially, Riyan Parag was appointed as the vice-captain, but he has been ruled out due to an injury. This will be Vaibhav's first opportunity to represent the India 'A' team in List A cricket, having previously played for the Indian shadow team in the T20 format during last year's Emerging Asia Cup held in Qatar.
Additionally, the India 'A' team is scheduled to play two first-class matches (4-day matches) against Sri Lanka A during this tour, although the squad for those matches has yet to be announced.
