Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Aims for IPL Glory with Rajasthan Royals
Young Star Sets Sights on IPL Success
At just 14 years old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a champion of the U-19 World Cup, is now determined to secure the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming season.
Sooryavanshi made headlines in IPL 2025 by becoming the youngest player to score a century in the tournament. Earlier this year, his remarkable 175 runs off 80 balls in the final against England helped India clinch its sixth U-19 World Cup title in Harare.
His focus is now firmly on the IPL.
In an interview with a media channel during the BCCI Naman Awards, Sooryavanshi expressed, "Winning the trophy this IPL season is my primary goal. I aim to perform well, as my contributions will benefit the entire team. I want to help Rajasthan Royals secure the championship for the franchise."
Renowned for his dynamic batting style, Sooryavanshi had the opportunity to reconnect with his World Cup-winning teammates at the awards ceremony.
"It feels great to have won a trophy for India at the World Cup. This event allows me to meet my teammates and coaches again, which is wonderful," the young talent remarked.
Sooryavanshi made history as the youngest player to sign an IPL contract when he was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals at the age of 13 for ₹1.1 crore in 2024.
Reflecting on his journey, he shared memories of his early interactions with the RR scouts.
"When I debuted in domestic cricket, the Rajasthan Royals had been monitoring my performances in both domestic and U-19 matches. Their scouting team had been following my progress for quite some time. I felt confident about joining RR after a successful trial with them," he recalled.
"I am grateful to be part of RR, as my experience with the team has significantly contributed to my growth as a player."
Sooryavanshi also highlighted the invaluable lessons he learned from cricketing legend Rahul Dravid and other senior players.
"For any young player, the first IPL camp is always an exciting experience, and I felt the same way. Rahul sir was present during that time, and I gained a lot of knowledge from him. The presence of many senior players provided me with a rich learning experience during my initial camp and my first IPL season," he concluded.
