Sooryavanshi Shines in IPL Match

Mohammad Kaif, a former cricketer for India, has hailed young talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as a once-in-a-lifetime player after his remarkable century helped the Rajasthan Royals score 228/6 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday. Although SRH managed to chase down the target, Sooryavanshi's explosive innings of 103 runs off just 37 balls, featuring 12 sixes and five fours, electrified the crowd in Jaipur and set the tone for an exciting IPL 2026 match.

Kaif remarked, "Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is a once-in-a-generation talent. At just 15, he is making the best bowlers in the IPL look ordinary." He noted the young player's aggressive approach, particularly his impressive four consecutive sixes against Praful Hinge, who had previously dismissed him in Hyderabad.

Kaif also praised Sooryavanshi's fearlessness, especially when facing top bowlers like Pat Cummins, stating, "He even hit the first ball he faced from Pat Cummins for a massive six. He is a fearless prodigy who is dominating the IPL like he is playing gully cricket. Two hundreds in two seasons, both at a strike rate above 250, speaks volumes about his mindset. He doesn't care about the bowler's name or the match situation; he just keeps attacking."

Despite the Rajasthan Royals' impressive total, SRH's Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma formed a crucial 132-run partnership, leading to a five-wicket victory with nine balls to spare.

Kaif further emphasized Sooryavanshi's technical prowess, saying, "He bats like a veteran who has played international cricket for 10 years. His ability to read the length early, maintain balance at the crease, and exhibit raw power are all world-class." He also highlighted the young player's composure, calling it a rare quality for someone so young. "He has a calm head on his young shoulders. That is a rare combination," he added. Kaif concluded, "If he stays fit, remains hungry, and keeps his focus, Indian cricket has found its next superstar for the next 20 to 25 years."

Potential India Call-Up for Sooryavanshi

Recent reports suggest that the young Rajasthan Royals star could receive a call-up to the senior Indian team, potentially being selected for the T20I tour to Ireland in June, which would make him the youngest player to represent the nation. This opportunity may arise just before a white-ball series in England.

Earlier this week, former Indian World Cup champion Krishnamachari Srikkanth praised Sooryavanshi, likening him to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. He expressed confidence that Sooryavanshi could become the next cricket sensation, stating, "When I went on a tour as captain in 1989, there was a prodigy at 16 named Sachin Tendulkar. Today, he’s the god of cricket. Similarly, this boy can be the next demi-god of cricket. I think he has tremendous talent."
