Uttarakhand's Commitment to Youth Sports

Haldwani (Uttarakhand) [India], September 11: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed confidence in Uttarakhand's potential for a political hat-trick during a recent football event.

In a video shared on social media, Dhami highlighted the state's progress driven by the 'Khelo India' initiative and the enthusiasm of its youth.

Notable attendees included BJP chief Nitin Nabin, along with Party MP Anil Baluni and State Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, who joined the football session.

Dhami remarked, "Uttarakhand is advancing with the spirit of 'Khelo India' and the vigor of its youth! I played football with young athletes in Haldwani alongside our esteemed National President, @NitinNabin ji. The energy and excitement of the youth on the field indicate that Uttarakhand is poised for a hat-trick!"

The BJP has successfully secured victories in the last two elections in Uttarakhand, with the next polls scheduled for early next year.

Earlier this month, Dhami launched the 'Khel Mahakumbh-Chief Minister's Championship Trophy 2026' at the Late Kailash Chandra Gahtori Sports Stadium in Tanakpur, Champawat district. The event commenced with Dhami passing the torch to distinguished athlete Gehna Mahar.

During the event, athletes pledged to compete with integrity and sportsmanship. They also showcased yoga poses and participated in Uttarakhand's traditional sport, 'Murga Jhapta', as per a statement from the Uttarakhand Chief Minister's Office.

Encouraging athletes from across the state, Dhami stated that Khel Mahakumbh is becoming a vital platform to elevate sporting talent from Uttarakhand's villages to state, national, and international arenas. He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that no talented athlete is overlooked due to a lack of resources or opportunities.

Dhami noted that this year's Khel Mahakumbh has been expanded, with competitions starting at the Nyaya Panchayat level and advancing through assembly and parliamentary constituencies, culminating at the state level. This structure provides athletes with multiple opportunities to display their skills.
