Swapan Sadhan Bose, affectionately known as Tutu Bose, has passed away at the age of 79 following a cardiac arrest. A prominent figure in Indian football administration, he had been receiving treatment for various health issues at a private hospital. Family sources confirmed his death occurred around 11:45 PM on Tuesday.

His body will be available for public viewing at the Mohun Bagan club tent on Wednesday, allowing fans and sports enthusiasts to pay their final tributes. The cremation is scheduled for 4:30 PM the same day.

His grandson, Arinjoy Bose, expressed the family's grief on Facebook, stating, "It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Tutu Bose. He was the best father and grandfather one could ever have, a remarkable administrator, and the strongest pillar of support for everyone around him. A true banyan tree in our lives."

Bose played a pivotal role in the evolution of Mohun Bagan during modern times. He dedicated over thirty years to the club, serving in various roles, including secretary and president, and became a symbol of the green-and-maroon legacy.

Under his guidance, Mohun Bagan navigated numerous financial and administrative hurdles while implementing significant changes, such as the introduction of foreign players and establishing corporate partnerships. Notably, the signing of Nigerian striker Chima Okorie, who became one of the most celebrated foreign players in Indian football, occurred during his tenure.

Additionally, Bose was instrumental in the merger of Mohun Bagan with ATK (formerly Atletico de Kolkata), marking a significant milestone in the club's history in 2020. Despite initial resistance from both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal to join the ISL structure from the I-League, Tutu Bose was central to the club’s negotiations and strategic decisions during this transformative period in Indian football.
