Toronto Sixers Triumph in Men's Final

In a thrilling conclusion to the Canada Super 60 Season 2, the Toronto Sixers achieved a remarkable double by securing the men's championship title. They triumphed over the Vancouver Anchors by five wickets in the final held at the renowned BC Place in Vancouver on Tuesday, having already claimed the women's title earlier in the tournament.


The Vancouver Anchors, co-owned by Zaheer Khan, set a challenging target of 164 runs for the Sixers after being put to bat first. Obus Pienaar delivered an outstanding performance, scoring an unbeaten 82 runs off just 21 balls, while captain Moeen Ali contributed 45 runs off 18 balls. The Anchors started strong, with Aneurin Donald and Aaron Johnson scoring 17 and 14 runs respectively.


Despite a duck from Martin Andersson, Moeen and Pienaar dominated the innings, collectively hitting 21 boundaries. Pienaar's explosive innings included 12 sixes and two fours, while Moeen's innings featured five sixes and two fours, leading Vancouver to a total of 164 runs at an impressive run rate of 16.40.


In response, Toronto's chase was spearheaded by Nicholas Pooran, who scored a blistering 67 runs off 23 balls, including nine sixes and two fours, achieving a strike rate of 291.30. Kieron Pollard added 35 runs from 13 balls, and Daniel Sams remained not out with 25 runs off nine balls, ensuring Toronto met the target with the final ball, finishing at 168/5.


Pooran's remarkable performance throughout the tournament earned him the Player of the Tournament title, amassing 207 runs and taking two wickets. The Sixers advanced to the final after a narrow nine-run victory against the Mississauga Masters in the semi-finals, while the Vancouver Anchors secured their final spot by defeating the Brampton Blitz by six wickets.
