He is now setting his sights on the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, aspiring to emulate the success of fellow Olympian Sajan Prakash in the men's 200m butterfly event.

Tirthank clinched a bronze medal in the men's 200m butterfly final, clocking in at 2:01.25. He secured his place in the finals by finishing first in the heats with a time of 2:05.30.

The gold medal was won by Egypt's Zain Ali, who finished with a time of 1:57.88, while Vietnam's Duong Van Hoang Quy took home the silver with a time of 2:00.32.

This historic win contributed to India's overall medal tally, which also included three medals in wrestling, alongside Dhinidhi Desinghu's bronze medals in the women's 100m and 200m freestyle events.

After his impressive performance, Tirthank shared his joy with the media, reflecting on the emotional experience of standing on the podium with his coach. He expressed, "It feels amazing. I was really happy and exhausted at that moment. My coach gave me a thumbs up, and I thought, 'we did it finally.'"

He credited his father as his primary inspiration for pursuing swimming and named Asian Games medallist Sandeep Sejwal and Olympian Sajan Prakash as his role models. Tirthank stated, "My father motivated me to swim, and that motivation turned into my passion. I have looked up to Sandeep Sejwal and Sajan Prakash since I was young. They are idols for all Indian swimmers, and as a 200m butterfly swimmer, I aim to follow Sajan's path."

Looking forward, Tirthank emphasized his commitment to preparing for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, where he hopes to qualify and make history as the first Indian swimmer to reach the finals at the Olympics. He concluded, "I feel like my journey has just begun, and I am focusing on LA 2028 to qualify and achieve this milestone for Indian swimming."
