Inauguration of the SATS Tennis Complex

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], November 4: The newly refurbished SATS Tennis Complex at Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad was officially opened by Telangana's Sports Minister, Vakiti Srihari, on Wednesday. He expressed optimism about the state's potential to become a prominent sports hub.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and various local leaders attended the inauguration of this facility, which is managed by the Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) and serves as the home for the Telangana State Tennis Association.

During his speech, Srihari emphasized the significance of the Khelo India initiative launched by the Centre and the state government's commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure.

“Khelo India has been allocated to Telangana; CM Revanth Reddy was persistent with PM Modi about our need for sports infrastructure, and now we have it. We aim to showcase Telangana's sporting potential to the world,” Srihari remarked.

The renovated complex is set to host the eighth season of the Tennis Premier League (TPL) from December 8 to 13, marking the league's inaugural event in Hyderabad.

This inauguration aligns with the Telangana government's goal of transforming the state into a center for education and sports. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reiterated this vision in June while laying the groundwork for sports complexes across various districts.

Additionally, the state government has plans to establish a Young India Sports University, aimed at training young athletes to excel and secure medals at the Olympic Games.

The upgraded tennis facility enhances the state's sports infrastructure, providing athletes with better training and competition opportunities.
