Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], March 9: Jay Shah, the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), along with Devajit Saikia, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), extended their heartfelt congratulations to Team India following their remarkable victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. This win marks a historic achievement as India clinches consecutive titles.


In a message shared on X, ICC Chairman Shah praised the tournament, highlighting it as one of the most globally recognized events organized by the ICC. He expressed his admiration for the Indian team's accomplishment, stating, "What an incredible finale to the most global and accessible @ICC event ever! In the final match, after winning the toss, New Zealand opted to field first. India set a formidable target of 255/5, thanks to impressive performances from Samson (89 runs off 46 balls), Abhishek Sharma (52 runs off 21 balls), Ishan Kishan (54 runs off 25 balls), and Shivam Dube (26* runs off 8 balls).


Despite a strong fifty from Tim Seifert (52 runs off 26 balls), the Kiwis fell short against the exceptional bowling of Axar (3 wickets for 27 runs) and Bumrah (4 wickets for 15 runs). This victory not only secured India's third T20 World Cup title but also made them the first team to defend the title successfully and the first host nation to win the trophy.
