Guwahati (Assam) [India], August 6: In a thrilling match at the ACA Stadium, Jorhat Stallions secured an impressive eight-wicket win against Barak Legends in the Assam Premier League 2026, thanks to a remarkable unbeaten 99 from Swarupam Purkayastha.
Chasing a target of 171 runs, Purkayastha played a pivotal role, guiding his team to victory with 10 balls remaining. His performance not only led the Stallions to success but also set a new record for the highest individual score in the tournament to date.
Barak Legends, after winning the toss, opted to bat first and got off to a strong start with Bishal Saha scoring a solid 71 runs off 60 balls, which included four boundaries and four sixes. Captain Sibsankar Roy contributed a brisk 45 runs from just 26 balls, while Aman Singh added 29 runs, helping the Legends maintain a healthy scoring rate.
However, the Legends faltered towards the end, losing three wickets in the final overs, including both Saha and Roy, finishing their innings at 170/4. For the Stallions, Rajjak Uddin Ahmed, Rajdeep Handique, and Bishal Newar each took a wicket, with Abhilash Gogoi impressively conceding just 11 runs in his two overs.
