Suryakumar Yadav Achieves 4,000 Runs in International Cricket

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], February 26: Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav marked a significant achievement by surpassing 4,000 runs in international cricket on Thursday.


This milestone was reached during a crucial Super Eight match against Zimbabwe in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held in Chennai, where he played an explosive innings of 33 runs off just 13 deliveries, hitting three fours and two sixes, and boasting an impressive strike rate of 253.85.


Across 148 international matches, Suryakumar has accumulated a total of 4,024 runs in 140 innings, maintaining an average of 34.10 and an overall strike rate of 146.80. His record includes four centuries and 29 half-centuries, with a personal best of 117 runs.


The majority of his runs have come from T20 internationals, where he has scored 3,243 runs in 110 matches and 104 innings, averaging 37.27 with a strike rate of 163.37, including four centuries and 25 fifties, and a top score of 117. He ranks as the 10th highest run-scorer in this format.


In contrast, his One Day International (ODI) performance has been less remarkable, with 773 runs in 37 matches and 35 innings, averaging 25.76 and a strike rate of 105.02, featuring four fifties and a highest score of 72*. His single Test match saw him score only eight runs.


During the current T20 World Cup, he stands as India’s second-highest run-scorer, amassing 213 runs in six innings at an average of 42.60 and a strike rate of 138.31, including a notable half-century of 84* against the USA.


In the match against Zimbabwe, the visitors won the toss and opted to field first. Sanju Samson contributed 24 runs off 15 balls, including a four and two sixes, forming a 48-run partnership with Abhishek Sharma, who returned to form with a solid 55 runs off 30 balls, featuring four fours and four sixes. He also shared a 72-run partnership with Ishan Kishan, who scored 38 runs off 24 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six.
