Suryakumar Yadav Welcomes Baby Girl

On May 7, Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India's T20I team, shared the joyful news of his baby girl's arrival. He made the announcement via a post on X, expressing his excitement with the words, "With giggles, bows, and dreams to unfurl- we welcome our baby girl." Suryakumar and his wife, Devisha Shetty, who have been married since July 2016, often share their moments together, especially during Mumbai Indians (MI) matches, where Devisha is frequently seen cheering from the stands.

Earlier this year, Suryakumar led India to victory in the 2026 T20 World Cup, and now, with the birth of his daughter, his happiness has multiplied. Currently, he is focused on his IPL duties with MI and has not traveled to Raipur for the upcoming match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 10. It remains uncertain if he will be available for that game.

In the absence of Hardik Pandya, who missed the match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) due to a back issue, Suryakumar stepped in as captain. However, MI has not officially named a vice-captain, leaving Suryakumar's role somewhat ambiguous.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is expected to rejoin MI in Raipur and will take over the captaincy against RCB. So far this season, he has missed two matches. MI is struggling in the IPL 2026 standings, currently sitting ninth with only three wins out of ten matches, accumulating six points and a negative net run rate of -0.649. Their chances of reaching the playoffs appear slim, even if they win their next four games, while LSG is at the bottom with just two wins in nine matches.
