In New Delhi, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina expressed admiration for the formidable batting duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, emphasizing their invaluable experience and track record in securing major titles.

Raina believes that their inclusion in the Indian squad for the upcoming World Cup in South Africa and Zimbabwe will greatly enhance the team's prospects of clinching the championship.

Both Rohit and Virat, aged 39 and 37, respectively, have transitioned to being ODI specialists after retiring from Test cricket in May of the previous year. They also stepped away from T20 internationals following India's triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Raina remarked, "We have a run machine at home, and we have a great captain who has won numerous trophies in the IPL and for the nation. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are well-known figures, and having played many matches alongside them, I can attest to their greatness. With both of them in the squad, I believe we have a 90 percent chance of winning the trophy this time around in South Africa and Zimbabwe," during a press interaction in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Additionally, Raina congratulated the Indian women's cricket team for their gold medal achievement at the Asian Games, commending their consistent performances, growing confidence, and fitness levels.

He praised the players' dedication and professionalism, expressing his delight at witnessing the team's continued dominance and progress.

"This is a remarkable achievement, and I extend my congratulations to the entire team. Their consistent performance over the years has been commendable. Following their World Cup victory, their confidence and fitness have soared, culminating in a gold medal at the Asian Games," he stated.

"Kudos to all the athletes who have earned medals. Their hard work has paid off, and it's inspiring to see the team excel and continue to rise. Their professionalism is truly commendable," he concluded.

In the women's T20 cricket final, India triumphed over Sri Lanka by 147 runs, securing their second consecutive Asian Games gold medal and marking India's first gold in the current edition.
