Sunrisers Hyderabad Claims Top Position in IPL 2026 Standings
SRH Tops the IPL 2026 Points Table
Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad has ascended to the top of the IPL 2026 points table following a 33-run victory over Punjab Kings, captained by Shreyas Iyer, in match 49 held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on May 6. This win marks SRH as the first team to accumulate 14 points, significantly boosting their prospects of securing a top-two finish ahead of the playoffs. In contrast, PBKS, who started the tournament unbeaten in their first eight matches, have now faced three consecutive defeats.
Currently, SRH leads the standings with 13 points and a net run rate (NRR) of +0.737. PBKS has slipped to second place, also with 13 points, but their NRR has decreased from +1.420 to +0.571. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has fallen to third, while Rajasthan Royals (RR) maintains their fourth position. The competition for playoff spots is heating up, with three teams—Gujarat Titans (GT) at 12 points, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at 10 points, and Delhi Capitals (DC) at 8 points—still in contention for a top-four finish. Meanwhile, the bottom three teams—Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with 7 points, Mumbai Indians (MI) with 6 points, and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) with 4 points—face a challenging path ahead.
