Sufiya Sufi's Inspiring Journey Reaches Banihal

On July 18, the town of Banihal in Jammu and Kashmir welcomed the esteemed ultra-distance runner Sufiya Sufi as part of her motivational 'Run for Dreams' initiative.

This remarkable campaign, dedicated to the Indian Armed Forces, involves a staggering 5,000-kilometer trek from Kanyakumari to Karakoram, promoting messages of resilience, determination, and patriotism throughout the nation.

As Sufi's marathon passed through Banihal, the 166 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) provided comprehensive security and logistical assistance along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, ensuring her safe journey through the rugged mountainous landscape.

During her visit, Sufi shared insights about her journey, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support from both the local community and CRPF personnel. She emphasized the significance of overcoming mental barriers.

"I come from Ajmer, Rajasthan, and I am currently undertaking a challenge called the Kanyakumari to Karakoram Run, which spans 5,000 km. Today marks the 67th day of my run, and the warmth of the people here in Banihal has been incredible. The CRPF soldiers have been exceptionally supportive, ensuring I face no difficulties while running or crossing roads. It's essential for women to break free from the mental constraints that suggest they cannot achieve such feats. When we do, we find that opportunities and support are abundant around us," Sufi conveyed to the media.

The extraordinary journey, named 'Run for Dreams', began on May 12 and is set to conclude on August 6. It will traverse 11 Indian states and visit several significant war memorials, culminating at the iconic Karakoram Pass, which stands at nearly 18,000 feet.

Additionally, the route includes a poignant stop at the Kargil War Memorial on July 26, coinciding with Kargil Vijay Diwas, before the final ascent to Karakoram Pass.
