Subhadeep Ghosh Takes Over as Fielding Coach for India Men's Cricket Team

New Appointment Ahead of Sri Lanka Tour

New Delhi, August 3: Subhadeep Ghosh has been appointed as the new fielding coach for the India men's cricket team, replacing T Dilip ahead of their upcoming two-Test series in Sri Lanka, according to reports from a sports news outlet.

The 57-year-old Ghosh previously held the position of fielding coach for the India women's cricket team for two years, contributing to the support staff during the 2022 Women's ODI World Cup and the 2023 Women's T20 World Cup.

In addition to his coaching roles, Ghosh has experience with India A and has served as the head coach for Assam's senior men's team.

As a player, Ghosh was a right-handed batsman who played for Assam and Railways, participating in 17 first-class matches and 17 List A games throughout his domestic career.

The Indian team is set to kick off their two-Test series against Sri Lanka on August 15 in Galle, with the second Test taking place on August 23 at the SSC in Colombo.

Prior to the series, the team will engage in a three-day practice match in Colombo starting August 7.

T Dilip had been the fielding coach for the India men's team since 2021, concluding his tenure after the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He returned for a second term during the Test tour of the UK in 2025 but was not retained after his contract ended.

Additionally, Ryan ten Doeschate, the assistant coach for the India men's team, has also stepped down following the white-ball tour of England and has taken on the role of Head of Cricket Strategy with the Kolkata Knight Riders.
