Colombo [Sri Lanka], May 4: In an exciting encounter at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Sri Lanka Women clinched a remarkable victory over India Women in the fourth match of the ongoing ODI tri-series on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 276 runs, the Sri Lankan team successfully reached their goal in the final over, finishing with three wickets remaining. The standout performances came from Nilakshi de Silva, who scored 56 runs off just 33 balls, and Harshitha Madavi, who contributed 53 runs from 61 balls.
Other notable contributions included Kavisha Dilhari with 35 runs off 32 balls, Vishmi Gunaratne scoring 33 runs from 58 balls, and Chamari Athapaththu adding 23 runs from 33 balls. Anushka Sanjeewani (23* runs off 28 balls), Hasini Perera (22 runs from 27 balls), and Sugandika Kumari (19* runs in 20 balls) also played key roles in guiding their team to victory in 49.1 overs.
For the Indian side, off-spinner Sneh Rana was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for 45 runs in her 10 overs. Pratika Rawal, Arundhati Reddy, and Nallapureddy Charani each claimed one wicket in their respective spells.
Earlier, Sri Lanka Women’s captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Indian team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, managed to score 275 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Richa Ghosh was the top scorer for India, making 58 runs off 48 balls.
Jemimah Rodrigues (37 runs from 46 balls), Pratika Rawal (35 runs in 39 balls), and Harmanpreet Kaur (30 runs off 45 balls) also made significant contributions to the total.
For Sri Lanka, Chamari Athapaththu and Sugandika Kumari each took three wickets, while Dewmi Vihanga and Inoka Ranaweera claimed one wicket each.
