Sri Lanka's Squad Announcement for Asia Cup

Colombo [Sri Lanka], August 14: Sri Lanka has officially announced a 15-member team for the upcoming Asia Cup set to take place in Dubai, aiming to defend their championship title.

Chamari Athapaththu will continue her role as captain, with Harshitha Samarawickrama stepping in as vice-captain, as reported by the ICC.

Returning to the squad is right-arm pacer Mithali Ayodhya, who made a significant impact at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Despite debuting internationally only in April, Ayodhya secured four wickets during the tournament, making her Sri Lanka's second-highest wicket-taker.

Additionally, leg-spinner and all-rounder Dewmi Vihanga has received her first T20I call-up, having previously played 12 ODIs for Sri Lanka.

To bolster their bowling lineup, Sri Lanka has also reintroduced Chethana Vimukthi.

Athapaththu and Samarawickrama are expected to lead the batting order, supported by Hasini Perera, Vishmi Gunaratne, and Nilakshika Silva among other batting talents.

The squad includes 17-year-old Sanjana Kavindi, who made her T20I debut in the recent series against Pakistan. Imesha Dulani retains her spot after becoming only the second Sri Lankan woman to achieve a T20I century in that same series.

Sri Lanka finds itself in Group B, competing against Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates. The defending champions will kick off their campaign against the UAE on August 29.
