New Delhi, Aug 20: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has revealed its squad for the upcoming second and final Test match against India. The team will see the inclusion of all-rounder Sahan Arachchige and batter Kamil Mishara in the 14-member lineup, set to compete against the Shubman Gill-led Indian side in Colombo starting Sunday.
Dinesh Chandimal, who sustained an injury during the first Test in Galle, has been ruled out, along with his replacement Pasindu Sooriyabandara, who unfortunately scored a golden duck in his only innings after stepping in as a concussion substitute.
Notably, opener Nishan Madushka has also been excluded, as well as bowling all-rounder Ramesh Mendis and fast bowler Dilshan Madushka.
Arachchige earned his spot after leading the Sri Lanka A team in unofficial Tests against the Indian A squad, where he showcased remarkable form, scoring 127 in the second match and 72 in the first, totaling 209 runs across both games, making him the top scorer for his team, just behind India's Sai Sudharsan. He remains uncapped in Test cricket.
Mishara has been in excellent form during the Lanka Premier League 2026, amassing 411 runs in nine innings, including a century against Galle Gallants. His recent performance in the Major Clubs T20 competition was also impressive, where he scored 145 runs off just 72 balls.
In the first Test, India emerged victorious by 165 runs, showcasing a strong performance with both bat and ball. Devdutt Padikkal made a significant contribution with 167 runs in the first innings, while left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Manav Suthar took a total of 10 wickets in the match, including six in the second innings. The second Test is scheduled to commence on August 23.
Sri Lanka's squad includes: Lahiru Udara, Kamil Mishara, Pasindu Sooriyabandara, Kamindu Mendis (Vice Captain), Dhananjaya De Silva (Captain), Sahan Arachchige, Sonal Dinusha, Niroshan Dickwella, Keshara Nuwantha, Prabath Jayasuriya, Milan Ratnayake, Lahiru Kumara, Asitha Fernando, and Vishwa Fernando.
