Sreenidi Deccan FC Set to Clash with Aizawl FC in Key IFL Match

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], April 4: In a pivotal Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26 match, Sreenidi Deccan FC will take on Aizawl FC at the Deccan Arena this Sunday, intensifying the competition for a top position in the league.
A victory for Sreenidi Deccan could temporarily elevate them to the top of the standings with 14 points, increasing the pressure on their rivals. Conversely, a win for Aizawl FC would allow them to equal their opponents' points, according to a recent announcement.
In their last outing, Sreenidi Deccan managed a goalless draw against Shillong Lajong, with goalkeeper Kamaljit Singh earning the Player of the Match title. Aizawl FC, on the other hand, is looking to bounce back from a 2-4 loss to Gokulam Kerala in their previous match held in Manjeri.
Sreenidi Deccan has shown strong form this season, suffering only one defeat and securing victories against top contenders like Diamond Harbour FC and Gokulam Kerala FC, while also drawing with Shillong Lajong FC. Head Coach Carlos Vaz Pinto emphasized the importance of consistency in winning the league, stating, “The team that maintains consistency until the end will likely emerge victorious. The top of the table is tightly packed, and the squad with depth and fewer injuries will have the advantage.”
Aizawl FC began the season positively with a win and two draws but has faced challenges recently, losing two of their last three matches. Assistant Coach Samuel Lalrinngheta Fanai stressed the need for the team to maintain focus throughout the match. “We conceded two early goals in our last game. We must concentrate every minute to stay competitive and improve our defense to secure a favorable outcome against Sreenidi,” he remarked.
Historically, Sreenidi Deccan has the edge in their encounters, winning four out of seven matches against Aizawl, who have only managed one victory. In their last meeting at this venue, Sreenidi triumphed 3-0, with goals from Gurmukh Singh, Lalromawia, and David Castaneda.
Newly signed forward Fabrice Kah expressed surprise at the physical demands of the IFL, stating, “I didn’t anticipate needing to run this much in Indian football. The physicality is quite challenging, requiring us to engage in more duels and be prepared for constant challenges from opponents.”
Aizawl FC, facing back-to-back away games after starting their season at home, must also adapt to the different weather conditions. “The climate here is vastly different from what we are accustomed to back home, and we haven’t had much time to adjust. We must adapt without making excuses,” Samuel added.
Aizawl FC forward Zomuansanga remains optimistic about his team's mindset. “Tomorrow’s match is crucial. A win would help us climb into the top half of the table. We are highly motivated, and we must fight and showcase our skills on the field,” he stated.
A victory for Aizawl would bring them to 11 points, contributing to the already competitive top of the table, while a win for Sreenidi Deccan would apply pressure on their closest rivals.
