Johannesburg [South Africa], April 23: The South Africa Women’s cricket team showcased an impressive performance by successfully chasing down a daunting target of 193 runs, completing the match in just 16.3 overs and winning by 9 wickets against India in the third T20I. This victory allowed them to clinch the series with two matches remaining.


The Proteas delivered a stunning batting display, marking their highest successful chase in T20I history and the third-highest overall in women's T20 internationals.


Captain Laura Wolvaardt led the charge with a phenomenal innings, scoring 115 runs off just 53 balls, which is now her personal best in T20I cricket.


Wolvaardt was given a lifeline when she was dropped by Smriti Mandhana at 31 runs in the fourth over, a mistake that proved costly for India. Her innings featured 14 fours and 5 sixes, achieving a remarkable strike rate of 216.98.


She formed a formidable opening partnership of 183 runs with Sune Luus, who remained not out at 64 runs from 42 balls. The Indian bowlers struggled to make breakthroughs and allowed 12 extras, failing to contain the run rate.


Shreyanka Patil was the only Indian bowler to claim a wicket, dismissing Wolvaardt in the 16th over. South Africa finished their innings at 193/1, showcasing a commanding performance at The Wanderers.


Earlier, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Shafali Verma set the tone with impressive half-centuries, helping India post a competitive total of 192/4 in the third Women’s T20I.


Shafali continued her excellent form with a second consecutive fifty, providing a strong start, while Harmanpreet anchored the innings with her first half-century of the series after two previous losses that left India trailing 0-2.


The skipper scored a fluent 66 runs off 38 balls, including seven fours and three sixes, ensuring India maintained momentum through the middle overs with a blend of power hitting and smart strike rotation.
