Ganguly Celebrates India's Triumph

In Kolkata, former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly expressed his admiration for the Indian team's impressive win against their long-time rivals, Pakistan, during the Super Four stage of the T20 Asia Cup. He confidently predicted that the Men in Blue have a strong chance of clinching the tournament title.

India achieved a decisive six-wicket victory over Pakistan in their Super Fours encounter held in Dubai on Sunday.

Speaking to a media outlet, Ganguly remarked, "India is a very strong team. We managed to defeat Pakistan comfortably in the Super 4s match. I believe we have a great opportunity to win the Asia Cup. I hope our performance continues to be strong."

While the earlier group stage match was heavily tilted in India's favor with a 7-wicket win, Pakistan presented a tougher challenge in the Super Fours, especially during their batting innings.

Sahibzada Farhan's steady innings of 58 runs, coupled with Faheem Ashraf's explosive 20 runs off just eight balls, helped Pakistan reach a total of 171/5, marking their highest score against India in T20 internationals while batting first.

In response, India set out to chase the 172-run target with Shubman Gill (47) and Abhishek Sharma (74) leading the charge, showcasing a fearless approach against Pakistan's bowling attack.

Gill's classical batting style complemented Abhishek's aggressive play, as the duo dismantled the opposition's bowling with powerful strokes, forming a formidable 105-run opening partnership in just 9.5 overs, easing the pressure on the middle order.

With this victory, India has maintained its unbeaten streak in the tournament, gearing up to face Bangladesh in Dubai on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Pakistan will seek to regain their form against Sri Lanka on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi.

In other news, Ganguly has been re-elected unopposed as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), succeeding his brother Snehasish Ganguly, who held the position for nearly three years. With no other candidates contesting, Ganguly's return to the presidency was confirmed after he filed his nominations last week.

Having previously served as CAB president from 2015 to 2019, Ganguly stated, "I have prior experience as President for five years. We will strive to do what is best for cricket. The passion for cricket in India is immense, and there is a wealth of talent. Our goal will be to guide this talent effectively."
