Siliguri Strikers Hold Successful Open Trials for Aspiring Cricketers
Exciting Cricket Trials in Kolkata
This June, the Siliguri Strikers hosted open cricket trials in Kolkata, attracting a remarkable turnout from aspiring cricketers throughout North Bengal. Hundreds of young athletes participated, eager to showcase their talents and chase their cricketing aspirations.
A total of 11 players, comprising 9 men and 2 women, have been selected to join the Siliguri Strikers for training sessions and practice drills during the upcoming Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2, which is set to kick off in June.
Following a thorough assessment conducted by seasoned coaches and talent scouts, a promising group of players has been chosen to join the Siliguri Strikers' net camp.
Rishabh Bhatia, the Sports Director at Servotech, commented on the trials, stating, "The enthusiasm and participation we witnessed reaffirm our confidence in the cricketing talent present in North Bengal. These trials are crucial for our goal of nurturing grassroots talent and offering them professional opportunities."
As the Siliguri Strikers prepare for the second season of the Bengal Pro T20 League, which begins on June 11, they have retained Indian pacer Akash Deep as their marquee player for the men's team, alongside Priyanka Bala in the women's squad.
The Siliguri Strikers will represent the districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, and Kalimpong. Building on their foundation from Season 1, the franchise aims to enhance their performance this year.
The men's competition for the Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 will commence on June 11 at Eden Gardens, featuring a match between last season's joint winners, Sobisco Smashers Malda and Murshidabad Kings, starting at 8 PM.
On June 26, the semifinals will take place at Eden Gardens, with matches scheduled for 1 PM and 7 PM. The grand finale is set for June 28 at 7 PM.
The women's league will kick off on June 12 with double-header matches, including last season's finalists Murshidabad Kueens against Harbour Diamonds at 9 AM, followed by the defending champions Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers facing the Siliguri Strikers.
Double-header matches will continue in the women's league until June 25, with semifinals on June 27 at JU, Salt Lake campus, and the final on June 28 at Eden Gardens.
